A Christmas Carol
I. About the Novel

A Christmas Carol is a novella by Charles Dickens about Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man, who is well-known for his miserly ways.
On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by a series of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley. The three spirits which follow, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come, show Scrooge how his mean behaviour has affected those around him. At the end of the story he is relieved to discover that there is still time for him to change and we see him transformed into a generous and kind-hearted human being.

IV. My Reaction
A. Reaction Point - Setting
- The setting is the time, place and/or situation in which a story takes place.
- A holiday season
- A Christmas Carol was the most successful book of the 1843 holiday season.
- Ebenezer Scrooge
- The miserly owner of a London counting-house, a nineteenth century term for an accountant's office. The three spirits of Christmas visit the stodgy bean-counter in hopes of reversing Scrooge's greedy, cold-hearted approach to life.
C. Reaction Point - character
- The Ghost of Christmas Past
- The first spirit to visit Scrooge, a curiously childlike apparition with a glowing head. He takes Scrooge on a tour of Christmases in his past. The spirit uses a cap to dampen the light emanating from his head.
I learned ”Christmas Carol” in other classesIt was difficult because I read it in English
But I thought that it was very rewarding.
